Bobby Sands Elected MP On This Day 1981

On this day in 1981, the people of Fermanagh and South Tyrone went to the polls.


Bobby Sands, was on hunger strike for recognition as a political prisoner. Margaret Thatcher the British Prime Minister called him a terrorist. He would become their MP with a larger vote than Thatcher ever received.


Early on the morning of April 10th, he was elected the Peoples MP’s.
