Remembering the Dublin and Monaghan bombings of May 17, 1974

Forty nine years ago today, four bombs exploded in Dublin and Monaghan, killing 33 civilians and injuring almost 300.

The British government  continues to refuse to release all files in spite of the political parties and the Irish government calling for their release.

Sinn Féin President Mary Lou McDonald and Sinn Féin spokesperson on Foreign Affairs & Defence, TD for Cavan Monaghan, Matt Carthy met today with Sinn Féin Councillor of Monaghan County Council Seán Conlon at a commemoration to remember those killed and injured.

Matt Carthy said, "The bombings were carried out by loyalists in collusion with British agents - to this day the British government refuses to provide the information it holds. Well done to Justice For The Forgotten who have never wavered in their pursuit of the truth."

Justice for the Forgotten was founded in 1996 to act collectively in pursuing these facts and other relevant evidence with the aim of finally establishing the truth about what happened on 17th May 1974.
