Secretary Blinken Raises Protecting the Good Friday Agreement with the British Government.

With the growing crisis in Ukraine, yesterday Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken spoke with UK Foreign Secretary Elizabeth Truss to discuss the Russian military build-up.

During the call on the Ukrainian crisis, Secretary Blinken also raised the protection of the Good Friday Agreement and the implementation of the Protocol to prevent a hard border across the island of Ireland.

This comes as the British Government renewed threats to unilaterally suspend the Protocol.

The spokesperson said,

“The two also discussed UK-EU negotiations over the implementation of the Northern Ireland Protocol and preserving the gains of the Belfast/Good Friday agreement.”
